Dog Creek Sawmill and Woodworking Co. began in 2018 under the original name "Rudman Woodwerks".  As we have grown and expanded our services offered, so has our name!  We operate a sawmill, furniture, and woodworking business in Washington County, Maryland.  

We are a family-based company focused on customer service.  Quality, not quantity, is what we focus on.  We utilize a "hybrid woodworking" approach to our build processes combining the use of hand tools and state of the art equipment.  Our products are made with wood that we mill from logs that we saw.  

We also believe in promoting the sustainable product ideology.  Most of our logs that we saw are salvaged trees.  We use every part of the log to optimize its yield.  All of our logs are locally sourced.  We embody the log-to-lumber approach in our craftsmanship.

As a sawmill, we offer both stationary and mobile sawmilling services.  We have the ability to bring our skid loader to you if equipment on site is not available to facilitate moving the logs.  We also sell slab wood offcuts for firewood utilization.  

We also offer kiln drying services in our solar kiln.  Our kiln allows the wood to heat up during the day and cool during the night.  This in essence allows the wood to "relax", yielding less cracking, staining, and more stable end-product lumber than conventional dehumidification kilns.  We are able to reach 150-degree temperatures and sterilize all of our furniture-grade lumber.

We also offer air-dried and green lumber sales.  We saw and stock most domestic woods including red oak, white oak, chestnut, sycamore, walnut, cherry, ash, maple, mulberry, locust, poplar, and pine.  

As a furniture and woodworking company, we can guide you through each step of the process from design to delivery.  Because we utilize our own materials, we are able to contour wood species, colors, and grain patterns to each specific project.  No two things we make are ever identical.

Our CNC engraving services allow us to add a unique level of personalization and customization to everything we make.  We have both a gantry-style CNC machine capable of engraving projects up to 4' long as well as a hand-held Shaper Origin CNC machine that allows us to take the CNC machine to the product.  This lets us do engraving on very large items such as finished tables and flooring.

We also offer digital design rendering for your project.  This allows us to show you a 3D model of your project before the build begins.
